Arcora was the brainchild of engineer Corentin Queffélec,
who wanted to create a design organization capable
of studying and developing original and innovative
solutions for all kinds of structural and enclosure
problems, whether for buildings, mechanics, bridges,
or works of art, etc., in close cooperation with architects.
Arcora was therefore born under the sign of the values
of ethics, user-friendliness, and responsible humanism
that the founding engineer, in his wisdom, promoted
and transmitted to all his personnel, and continues
to aspire to those values today. Corentin Quéffelec's
daughter, Dominique Queffélec, herself an engineer,
has worked for the company from its beginnings, and
after the death of her father in a private-plane crash
in 1985 she took over the reins as chairwoman of the
company.
Since the end of the 1980s the skills of the company's
staff have expanded increasingly into building envelopes,
curtain walling, slope glazing, and complex buildings
while at the same time occupying a stronger position
in the structural steelwork of buildings or structures
such as footbridges.
The creation of Argile in 2002 expanded the company's
offering to concrete structures and enabled forays
into the strongly growing market of rehabilitation
of old and very old buildings.
Through Integral Concept, founded in 2006, energy
efficiency has now become an integral part of studies
right from the conceptual design phase; research and
development is carried out in this field, particularly
by an R&D company created as a joint venture with
other partners involved in building design.
